Tag: Products That Have Let me Down :(

So I got tagged by the lovely iheartsnark to do this post. She commented my Tag Me! post saying:

Hi Ash!I'm always interested in seeing what people bought that DIDN'T work for them, or what that was really hyped and just didn't live up to the expectation. Must me the negativity in me. :-)

This is such a good idea! In the past I have bought many products which have promised to make me prettier/more tanned/younger for longer/more amazing in every frickin way and the vast vast majority really haven't come up with the goods!

NOTE: I may be blonde but no I don't actually believe any product will do any of those things for me...Just to clear that up! In fact most advertising out there is just hilarious...

Most products that I found to be awful have been thrown out....but I have discovered a few remaining offenders in my collection!

So basically you are about to read a giant rant from moi :) Deep breath...

1. MakeUp: Rimmel Extra Super Lash Mascara

(Excuse the crappy nails guys...I did them after taking the pictures!) If I'm honest I wasn't expecting a lot from this mascara, but I've been on a search for the mascara - the best mascara ever ever ever, and I was up for trying all kinds especially drugstore mascaras for a cheap and cheerful option.

I'm gonna keep this one brief - there was nothing "extra super" about my lashes after using this mascara. It claims to be a lash building mascara but really didn't live up to the tagline.



2. Skincare: Neutrogena Wave
Sigh. Yes I bought this. And for some reason I thought that it would make my skin all lovely and perfect....Come on you've seen the ads, can you blame me for wanting to "wave hello" and have gorgey skin like Vanessa Hugdens?! Needless to say that didn't happen....

This thing vibrates which is meant to be some kind of huge innovation in skincare but to be honest it just made me feel kinda stupid for trying to clease my skin with this...


3. Haircare: L’Oreal Elvive Re-Nutrition Night Serum

This baby was supposed to replenish my dry or dried out hair while I was off in the land of nod. Sure, it is naive to expect to wake up with a glorious mane that would’ve put Mrs Cole to shame...but I really don’t feel like it did anything at all....

Scratch that, if it did anything it made my hair look like it hadn't been washed in a couple of days. I really wasn't impressed with this.



4. MakeUp: YSL Touche Éclat

Ooooooh...controversial! I know I'm entering dangerous territory here because this is a HG product for so many people, but let me explain.

I have dark circles under my eyes and I hate them... I knew I needed to fork out on some industrial strength concealer/other product to keep them at bay because absolutely everything else didn't work.

Then I heard about this last year and decided to look at it as an investment because of it's hefty pricetag. Everyone including the sales advisor I dealt with insisted that this was what I's been looking for, that this baby was gonna banish my dark circles off to the dark circle graveyard.

You know whats coming right? It didn't work. It didnt do anything really. And I know I know it's a highlighter and all that but overall the product just hasn't worked for me, even when I've tried to use it just as a highlighter.


(Again - please ignore the nails!!!!!!)

I'm not trying to say that any of these product on't work for everyone, obviously they might be brilliant for some people, just not me. This is only my opinion from my experience.

Phew! I think I've been giving out for long enough! Is there any products that have disappointed you this much? Thanks for reading you guys!
